Dear Tallula,
Today you are 7 months old. I have really enjoyed watching you grow and your sweet (and strong willed) personality emerge and develop.
This month you…
…Started reaching for me. Up. Over. Around. You make my heart melt. Over and over. Pretty sure this is my favorite addition to your milestones.
…Are full of surprises around every corner. Determined to explore, you’ve been rolling onto your tummy and pushing yourself backwards; you haven’t discovered how to go forwards just yet. I watched in amazement as you pushed yourself backwards into all kinds of corners. Even under Seb’s bed. You go go go and get into whatever you end up next to. I was thankful you haven’t developed the pincer grasp yet when I discovered you pushing around a penny you had found. When you get tired, you protest and I scoop you up into my arms for a big cuddle.
…Tried a sippy cup. I should say, explored, dumped put, unscrewed, and chewed on a sippy cup. You may have gotten a little water/fresh juice into your mouth, but not much. It’s all about the exploration and experience, right?
…Chomped on frozen raspberries from the safety of a net. This is perfectly delightful for all of us. You prefer feeding yourself. Not much, but you like to be in charge. And this makes it possible. And I trick you into eating more than you planned.
…Started really squealing and screaming. You are even repeating sounds and sometimes – when Sebastian isn’t around – we exchange back and forth squeals. Seb is still trying to get used to your high pitched expressions. Us too. I love them. I want you to do them. I want you to explore your voice in every way possible. But I also want to keep Sebastian happy and sometimes they don’t mix so well. We search for a good balance.
You are even working on perfecting your pout.
…Started clapping your hands wildly. Taking turns clapping with us.
…Had your first ride with Sebastian on his Red Racer. You wanted to try his glasses on but settled for making faces at the camera and clapping for your big brother.
…Had your first ride in the shopping cart. This was a momentous occasion for us. I tried to keep the germs at bay with the shopping bag, but you weren’t interested in holding on anyhow. So I held on to you as I pushed. It could have had something to do with being all bundled up. It’s been a cold cold month.
…Experienced your first big snow. You were nonplussed. Completely.
…Started to become interested in books, for more than chewing. You picked one up and handed it to me. After I read it to you and Sebastian, I handed it back. You made an attempt to open it. I’m so looking forward to exploring the world of books with you like I have with Sebastian. In our house, we love books.
…Grew and grew and grew. You have outgrown many of your clothes and now fit into 9month sets. I put you on the bean bag next to Sebastian and you want to reach for him. You want to sit up. You want to explore.
Being your mom is one of my favorite things in the whole world. I love you Lula girl. Thanks for bringing so much more wonder and sunshine into our lives. I love your dramatic outbursts. I love how you know what you want. I love everything about you!

Beautiful!
eeee she is precious!! And that perfect pout! I’m pretty sure every baby at some point masters a perfect bout, it is my weak spot, my heart breaks a little when they pull out the perfect pout.
