This month was a busy one! We did a lot of unpacking and organizing. You helped me do a bit of decorating and we went on many walks to explore our new neighbourhood.
Sebastian started school this month and he is in SK now and gone for the full day. We miss him so much. You wave to his photo everyone we go past it and give him kisses goodbye in the morning and hello in the afternoon when we drop him and pick him up from school. You love climbing up to lay with him to watch Sesame Street after school. You’ve also started choosing one of his furry friends to cuddle with when he’s getting ready to leave in the morning. But we are having many adventures of our own during the day and figuring out when nap time should be since you seen to have given up your morning naps.
You are now pointing instead of just reaching. Trying to say Ba Ba for Sebastian or Bastian. Other words and demands are clearer. You added some signs too. You sign for drink, eat and finished. You sign finished when you no longer want to read a book or eat anymore food. You also place your bowl on Sebastian’s tray or the table, whichever is nearest. And climbing out of your chair, leg on too of your tray, yoga style. You try to and almost always get your bib off too to let us know you are done eating.
You try some new foods but sticking to favorites too. You prefer sharing lunch with mama for the new items in the menu. Peanut butter toast and grilled cheese. Your favorite is Spaghetti (just like your big brother) and anything with noodles.
I love your good morning kisses and waves when you wake, after you rub your sleepy eyes. You are so full of sunshine and love. You wave hello to those who pass us on the street and if they reply with a wave and a smile you even blow them kisses! I think you bright many a strangers day.
Your inner artists has begun to come out and play. You used to take crayons out of their bin and put them back in but now you’ve discovered you can make your mark. On anything and everything. I secretly enjoy finding your little red or blue (so far) scribbles around the house. I’ve also caught you Colouring on walls (and the bath tub) with said crayons. You are learning about drawing on paper too.
You climb bravely and quickly up into anything and getting right back up after a fall.
We’ve been exploring the city and discovering new things, from the fountains and Ai Weiwei sculptures in David Pekoe Square to potting a plant in the afternoon us shine on our new deck.
I’m enjoying watching you play with new friends your age and younger. Wanting the same toys or trading on for the other. You go go go until naptime or bedtime. Busy busy busy.
You are brave in the bath, drinking bath water and attempts to blow bubbles on the surface. We start swim class together again next week and I’m looking forward to seeing you kick and splash and play.
You are a comedian. A drama queen. Feisty and determined.
Sometimes you like to wear a purse or bag around your neck (like a necklace) and I’m teaching you to put it on your shoulder.
Your laughter is contagious. I love watching Sebastian break out in a smile when he hears you laughing with Papa-daddy we know you are squirming to get away when he is changing your nappy and it becomes a very fun game. You love being chased and the anticipation of being caught.
